Interesting story Marcin. Although I don't quite understand how was it the couple's fault? Do you mean that if they've stayed longer you'd be full of beans? Or are you saying that they've had arranged the date at the wrong time?
If I was that girl I'd probably think you weren't interested because as soon as the other couple left you've lost your interest (at least it looked like that). Female point of view...
If you want to make it up to her, you should ask her on another date, choose a day when you're full of vigour and then... show her a good time...

I'd say - if they had postponed the date I'd've had enough time to recover after the tough match I played that day, therefore, I'd've been full of vigour or, at least, more talkative/responsive, more sociable guy.

OK, here is THE story (OK HERE IS MY STORY):
SOME time ago, I went on a date kindly organised by a COUPLE I WAS FRIENDS WITH. Well, A double date to be precise. She was taller than me, attractive and a little bit shy. I usually meet talkative (CHATTY), cheeky girls so it MADE a nice change. THE DATE started AT 8.30 pm at the local "posh" pub. WE had a good time for THE next 2 hrs then went ON to a local dive. Fortunately, they played quite good DANCE music (THE MUSIC WAS QUITE GOOD, GOOD TO DANCE TO). I DID some magic tricks, HAD A FEW DANCES, things started working out (HOTTING UP)AND THEN the couple decided to leave us alone, and VANISHED. THANKS TO them for that.
However, here is THE thing. I play football, usually 6-a-side but, unfortunately, it was 5-a-side that day. So after the match, A FEW pints in (DOWN) the pub and 3 hrs of dancing I was pretty tired AND BECAME grumpy. She tried HER BEST to entertain me, CARRIED ON (TO CARRY ON) an intriguing conversation but I was significantly unresponsive. I REFRESHED myself with A FEW Red Bulls, A FEW glasses of orange juice - unfortunately nothing worked, at least not for VERY long. Eccentric Prince Charming SUDDENLY became a grumpy (OLD) jerk. So, I just saw her home, kissed her cheek when she OFFERED me her lips, said goodbye and went home.

Surprisingly THE next day I was told she'd felt insulted by my strange behaviour.
Jeez, any reason why? I was funny (at least she laughed at my funny jokes, at my not-SO funny jokes, AND EVEN when I talked rubbish), naughty (?????) and definitely exhausted!(UWAGA - TO ZDANIE NIE MA SENSU - CO CHCIALES POWIEDZIEC?) A little bit of sympathy please! Apparently, she HAD felt rejected. Actually, it can't be true (I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE). I would HAVE LIKED TO DO her a favour, but unfortunately, I was running on AN empty TANK THAT DAY...

And that's my point - How can she CLAIM TO be offended?
I REALLY HAVE no clue why! Do you? ( I REALLY DON'T HAVE THE SLIGHTEST! I REALLY HAVE NO CLUE!)
She should REALLY thank me INSTEAD - what if she woke up THE next morning with a lovely corpse decomposing next to her. That wouldn't be very amusing, WOULD IT.

Anyway, IT WAS ALL THE couple's fault, WITHOUT A doubt - they didn't want to delay the date (PUT THE DATE BACK). HAD THEY ARRANGED IT TO START (KICK OFF) 2 hrs later, I'd have been full of ENERGY. (MY ENERGY LEVELS WOULD HAVE BEEN REPLENISHED). No, they simply wanted me to HAVE A heart seizure AND DIE.
Yep, it was a bloody conspiracy ALRIGHT...

Nieźle żeście się tutaj pokłócili pod moją nieobecność. Właśnie przyjechałem z Niemiec i musze się przestawić na angielski. Chętnie przyłączę się do zabawy. Jestem w trakcie tłumaczenia książki Joseph Heller "Catch 22" na polski - było tłumaczenie, ale zbyt gładkie i wersja polska straciła siłę ekspresji.
