M. Howard: "Polskie obozy koncentracyjne" (3)

Dear Mr. Hellewell
Thank you for your letter of July 13 written on behalf of Mr. Michael Howard. Let me point out that my original letter was written on behalf of the 750 000 strong Polish community here. Having taken some soudings I can firmly state that like myself, they find your response unsatisfactory.

Whilst Mr. Howard may not have intended to Polish people, it should have been clear to a politician of his experience that hi did so and that only a personal apology will go some way towards repairing the damage.

Mr. Howard should be aware that misstatements of facts, when repeated often enough, especially when this is done by persons in the public arena, are eventually believed, no matter how untrue. In this case nothing less than a correction issued by Mr. Howard to the media can be considered satisfactory.

I shall be publishig our correspondence so far in the Polish daily and weekly press here in hope that I shall be able to publish a more satisfactory reply from Mr. Howard himself.
